Pumpkin Exploration

This week in Pre K we had a lot of fun exploring pumpkins.  We read the book Spookly The Square Pumpkin. Then created a pumpkin using a different shapes.  We sang 5 Little Pumpkin's sitting on a gate. We then were scientist and described what our pumpkin looked like. We said it was round, orange, big, bumpy, and counted 22 lines on it.  Then we cut open the pumpkin and Mrs. D'Arienzo scooped out some pulp and seeds for us to explore with our hands. We described it as wet, cold, slimy, and sticky. We counted our seeds, then put all the seeds together and counted together. There were over 160 seeds in our pumpkin.

We also added eyes and a mouth to our pumpkin.

All about germs!

This week we learned about doctors, nurses, and demists.  We talked about why we go to the doctor. We talked about how germs makes us feel sick and we do not share germs. We did an experiment with glitter to show what happens when we do not cover our mouth and nose when we sneeze. We found out that the germs go all over, but when we cover our mouth and nose in our elbow the germs only stay on us.  We practiced covering our nose and mouth in our elbows. For our read aloud we listen to the story Monsters wear a mask.

Some pictures of us practicing cover our mouth and mouths with our elbows. Also our hands with glitter to show how germs spread when we do not cover our sneezes and coughs.

Fire Safety Prevention Week

Fire Safety Prevention Week

This week we learned about firefighters. We made a chart of what firefighters can do, what they have, and who they are. We came up with that firefighters help people, they put out fires. and they drive a truck. We said they have a hat, boots, gloves, ladder, and jackets.

We made a firetruck, by gluing the pieces together to create it. During circle time we worked on filling in our poem about firefighters. Worked on the letter F for Firefighter.

We learned how to be safe if our fire catches on fire. We practiced STOP DROP AND ROLL. Here are some pictures of us STOP DROP ROLL!
