3 dimensional shapes

                                    3D Shapes

Pre K  was busy exploring 3 dimensional shapes. We looked at our shape wall and identified circle, rectangle, and square. Then we looked inside our 3D shape box. Inside the box we found a party hat, golf ball, cube, and coffee can. We described the shapes and learned the names of the shapes. (Golf ball is sphere, party hat is a cone, cube, and the coffee can is a cylinder).  Then we compared the 3D shapes to their 2D shapes. In our discussion we found that 3D shapes are not flat and cylinders have 2 circles one on the top and one on the bottom.  We had a lot of fun using the 3D shapes in our block area.  Then for snack we sorted 3D snacks. We had a lot fun looking at the snacks sorting them.  For our snack we found that marshmallows are cylinders, bugles are cones, and cheese cubes are cubes, and cheese balls are spheres.  Then we got to enjoy our fun snack.

After snack we worked on Shape stem project. We made 3D shapes with straws and playdough.
