Balloons over Broadway

Balloons Over Broadway 

We read the book Balloons Over Broadway by Melissa Sweet. We talked about the Macy's Day parade.  Then we made a plan of what balloons we went to make for our parade with the primary grades. Pre K loves the story of the Rainbow Fish. So we made Rainbow Fish, and the Octopus from the story. 

First we blew up the balloon and then used the paper Mache technique to create the body of the fish. Then painted it blue and then added the sparkles.  We added the coral around the fish. Then made some shells and starfish(Sally) our favorite Starfish from the Monster Counting book., to add to the balloons.

After we finished the parade we talked about what balloons we saw. We saw tiger, sloth, unicorn, and dinosaur, and Santa Claus. 

We had a lot of fun leading the parade around the school or the classes to see. They cheered and clapped when we came around. 

Scooping for letters in our names

 We used measuring cups to scoop out the letters in our names.  We first looked at the our name cards and then took turns trying to scoop out letters of our colored sand. As we found the letters we put it on our magnetic boards, to spell our names.  This activity helped us recognize the letters in our name as well as our fine motor skills, sensory, and cause and effect skills. 

Election Day in Prek

Pre K learned about voting and then voted! 

We read the book One Vote, Two Votes, I Vote, You Vote

We talked about Election Day and why we  vote. Then we voted for our favorite ice cream flavor Chocolate  or Vanilla. We picked our favorite and and put it in the slot of our voting both.

Then we counted the votes and the Winner is... Vanilla 6 Chocolate 5
