Polar Express Day

Polar Express Day

We enjoyed taking a ride on the polar express.  We enjoyed drinking chocolate milk and teddy games on our train while hearing the story Polar Express.

Before boarding our train we got a golden ticket with a number and had find our special seat for our magical journey.  During our journey we talked about what we are going to do for Christmas and what we asked Santa for.

At the end of our journey we got a bell like boy in the story.

Peppermint slime

 Peppermint Slime

We had a lot of fun making peppermint slime. As we were preparing to make our slime we discussed what type of substance slime is. Is it a solid or liquid?  We also looked at the measuring cups we used and talked about how when we make things we need to measure things. We compared the 1 cup and 1/2 cup measuring cups. Introduced the vocabulary words  recipe, measuring, and substance.

We used we used our senses, while making slime.

  • Sense of touch- we put it our hands. We said it felt cold, gooey. and wet.
  • Sense of Smell- It smells like a candy cane, and Christmas.
  • Sense of sight- It is green, It looks slimy, and it looks like a ball.

Enjoy our pictures of our Slime experiment.

Saint of the Month/ Virtue of the month

Saint Nicholas December 6

Virtue of the month Generosity

Pre K learned at Saint Nicholas gave to the poor who did not have enough money, by leaving money in their stockings.

We learned about how a virtue is a good habit. To show the virtue of generosity we brought in a food item for our food pantry, like Saint Nicholas did for others. We discussed how we can be generosity during the Christmas season. Some of things we said is by making people happy, sending cards.

During our study on Saint Nicholas we brought in a pair of shoes/slippers to put out by our classroom door for St. Nicholas to leave us a treat. We talked about how in other countries they celebrate St. Nicholas day on December 6 and how they leave out theirs shoes for him.

Pre k enjoyed making Saint Nicholas's hat (Miter)

Here are some pictures of our day learning about Saint Nicholas
